Project Overview: The Chicago Recovery Communities Coalition (CRCC) is launching the

PACSS grant project aimed at addressing the needs of two diverse and at-risk populations across Illinois: emerging adults aged 18-25 and adults over 21 who are legally permitted to use substances such as cannabis. The project focuses explicitly on Non-Hispanic Black emerging adults who face a disproportionately high overdose fatality rate. Special considerations are given to those at risk due to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), mental health conditions, familial history of substance use disorders (SUD), and neurodivergence. The project spans all 102 counties in Illinois to ensure comprehensive statewide coverage.

About CRCC: CRCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Recovery Community Organization operating as a peer-run entity and a member of the Faces & Voices of Recovery's Association of Recovery Community Organizations (ARCO). With a staff and board comprising individuals in recovery who represent a diverse range of racial and ethnic backgrounds, CRCC is dedicated to providing evidence-based Peer Recovery Support Services (PRSS) to individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Peer Support Services: Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate peer recovery support services to individuals and families affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders, reflecting the target populations.

recovery, empowering them to take charge of their recovery journey.

  • Group Facilitation: Facilitate peer support groups, workshops, and educational

sessions tailored to the needs of the target populations.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Campaign Coordinator, Recovery Educated & Empowered Committee (REEC), and other team members to ensure integrated and coordinated services.

  • Data Collection: Maintain accurate records of services provided and outcomes

achieved, contributing to the project’s continuous improvement and evaluation efforts.

  • Educational Campaigns: Assist in the development and dissemination of educational materials, ensuring they are accessible, engaging, and impactful for those at risk of substance use and the broader community.

Qualifications:

  • Lived Experience: Must have a minimum of two years in SUD/COD recovery,

    representing the target populations.

  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist preferred. Experience working in peer support, recovery services, or related fields is highly desirable.
